15 Years Ago Today Bobby V. Wears A Disguise In The Dugout

on

15 years ago today, June 9th 1999 the Mets and Toronto Blue Jays played each other in an inter-league game at Shea Stadium.

The Mets won the game on a walk off hit in extra innings but that was not the main story that came from that night.

The video you see below shows how then Mets manager Bobby Valentine was ejected from the game, but had an idea of how to stick around in the dugout none the less.

The laughter from the old Fox Sports Net New York booth of Fran Healey and Howie Rose really says it all. Bobby V was a man who did things a little differently as a manager and this is certainly one of those things.

Baseball was not so amused and suspended Valentine two games and fined him $5,000 for his antics. In the end he might have lost some cash but made that moment one to remember in Mets history.

So Happy Anniversary Bobby V. and nice Stache.
