The Mets can pull out a win against the Pirates. However, scoring at least five runs could be pretty necessary.

It is time to revamp the bullpen. Acosta can throw heat, but that does not mean much when he grooves so many right down broadway. He needs to be sent down. The Braves gave him up for the same reason. Hard throwers always get extra chances, but Manny needs to pitch in a park with 450 ft fences. Ramerez has been disappointing too send him down, cannot afford for him to find himself at the expense of the team. Frankie needs the seventh inning until he regains his touch.
Parnell and Raunch can hold down the dual closer role.
It is hard too watch when some of these guys get the ball. What about Hefner, Andersen? Give these guys a shot in the pen. Need a closer with more than one pitch they can control.
Can we afford to throw Baptista out there tonight... my stomach is already churning Wish they would opt for a four man rotation until there are better options..

I agree with pretty much all of what you had to say. They'll be ready when they're ready, there's no rush.

As far as putting one of them in the bullpen, I'd rather they not do it, but it has worked for many pitchers, including Johan Santana. Texas has had a lot of success with it recently. So it can be done, as long as it's done correctly.

Greetings! I stumbled upon your site while looking for someone referring to the Mets somewhat recent 99AB extra base hit drought and somewhere in there was a reference to you. I already write for Bleacher Report (occasionally--the number of bad articles on their keep so many away, so it's really only read by me when I'm interested in hearing over and over from different people how the Mets kicked someone's butt. I also write for Mack's Mets, and I'm looking for other places to contribute.

One thing I really like is the presentation of your site. It's clean, it's got lots and lots of reference material on the banner (similar to the MLB Met's home site). What I noticed, however, is it seems like you're missing a sabrematrician and it just so happens I am one (proud member of SABR)..

What I would like to do is submit pieces summing up a series instead of addressing each game, because obviously you have people doing that already. I'm almost done with the blog I'll post for Mack's Mets soon, and I thought I'd write you, offer you a chance to read it (and, of course, post it if you like).

As for me, I'm about to turn 46, have been a Met fan since i was 3 years old--one of my earliest memories is seeing Tommie Agee make two snow cone catches robbing Orioles of hits during the 1969 World Series. As far as I know, I've ALWAYS been a Met fan--even when they were terrible, like the mid to late 70s, early 80s when we all suffered with the M.Donald Grant ownership group. I have a B.S. in Finance, M.S. in Psychology, M.A. in Criminology, and a Ph.D. in Applied Human Behavior. I got the last 3 degrees within the last 9 years as i was an Army Warrant Officer and combat helicopter pilot from 1991-2003. I was forced into a medical retirement after being seriously wounded.

I'd be more than happy, as I said, to provide you with a writing sample (my posts tend to be long and full of research--much like this note to you, though I didn't have to research anything for it :) ).

Let me know how you feel about all this (and uh, I don't know HTML--am strictly a writer and Math guy. I don't enjoy computer programming or learning the languages), and get back to me whenever it's convenient for you.

Best wishes!

Ike needs to be sent back to the minor league again. He sometimes swings with a lazy looking one hand swing. Also he gets a lot of called strikes on balls that are down and away. Maybe about a month or two with him down in the Minors he could improve on his swing and his constant body twitching.
