Coors Field: Don’t Get Too Homer Happy

on

With the Mets set to start a weekend set against the Rockies in Colorado, it’s only natural for us to think about power and home runs that seem to fly out of that place with the thin air.

You can bet that the Mets are thinking about it as well. Speaking of betting, sports betting websites can be found at this link. With the rut that Ike Davis is in, this is a bad idea for him. He’s got to get back to the basics. He has shown some signs of life the last couple of days, but overall, he’s been as bad a hitter that there’s been in the National League. He should even have one less hit, but thankfully for him, Jose Reyes didn’t hustle on his soft bloop in the hole.

Another guy we think of when you think of Mets and power is Lucas Duda. The guy is huge, and I know that from standing next to him on Wednesday. Remember, Lucas’ probables started after that two-homer game early in the year. Sure, he’s got potential to hit 30-35 homers one day, but for now, he’s just got to keep the merry-go-round going. The homers will come, but he’s got to know his place on the totem pole.

Lastly, there’s David Wright, who had the big blow on Wednesday to lift the Mets to victory. Wright has looked like a new man early on in the year, and he is attacking the ball early and hitting it with authority. His upper cut is substantially less, and in return, he has galloped out of the gate to a strong start. He should be a good bet for at least 20 homers this year, as long as he stays healthy.

Here’s how you win in Colorado. Stay smart at the plate, don’t be afraid to take walks and play solid defense. That’s the way this mini winning streak will continue.
