Four Mets Named in MLB.com’s Top 100 Prospects

Four Mets, including Steven Matz (15), Dominic Smith (51), Amed Rosario (79) and Gavin Cecchini (87) were included in MLB.com’s Top 100 prospect list.

Here’s some clips of what they had to say. Read each of their entries by clicking here.

Steven Matz: Though Matz missed a chunk of time with a lat strain, he hasn’t had any signs of the arm troubles that plagued him at the start of his career. He has nothing left to prove in the Minor Leagues and has frontline starter potential.

Dominic Smith: Smith’s hit tool should be enough to get him to the big leagues. How much the left-handed hitter develops his power will determine just what caliber of a big league first baseman he will become.

Amed Rosario: Those who see Gavin Cecchini as a future second baseman likely view Rosario as the Mets shortstop of the future. He could be more than ready to take over full time right when free agent acquisition Asdrubal Cabrera’s contract is up.

Gavin Cecchini: The Mets believe Cecchini has the goods to do just that, though there could be a middle infield logjam in the near future. The good news is he shouldn’t have any problem shifting over to second or breaking in as a utility type.
