Meet the Met: Darrell Ceciliani

Darrell Ceciliani had his contract selected prior to tonight’s game.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis was designated for assignment. Ceciliani will wear #1. He was hitting .336 (38-113) with 25 runs scored, seven doubles, three triples, five home runs and 17 RBI in 37 games in the outfield with Las Vegas (AAA) this year

He was fifth in the PCL in batting average. Ceciliani, 24, has never appeared in the majors. He was the Mets fourth-round pick in the 2009 First Year Player Draft from Columbia Basin Community College (WA). The 6-1, 185-pounder hit .289 with seven home runs and 54 RBI in 106 games with Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League in 2014.
