Mets Fans: Are You Nervous or Excited Moving Forward?

on

I have been a Met fan for over 45 years. I have seen the good and the bad over the years. This year many Met Fans are expecting no less than a World Championship. Despite their good start I worry as to me being a Met Fan is the constant reaching for the antacid.

A few years ago Major League Baseball added a second Wild Card Team. This means a one game playoff. You lose and you go home. I am pretty certain the Mets will make the playoffs this year but what if they don’t win the division? It’s conceivable they could meet either Los Angeles or St. Louis in the Wild Card game. Now I like the Mets pitching but I would worry if I see Adam Wainwright or Clayton Kershaw on the opposing mound.

Now I guess there are worse things than being a long suffering Mets Fan. I could be a Chicago Cubs Fan. I was in graduate school the last time the Mets won a World Championship. The Cubs last won a World title the year before my grandfather was born and yes this is significant as I am a member of AARP.

There are reasons for me to be optimistic for 2016. The 12-run inning against the Giants as well as ‘Babe’ Colon giving all us middle age weekend warriors hope that we too can go deep. Matt Harvey will improve, Jacob deGrom will find the extra few miles on his fastball. Yoenis Cespedes will once again be driven by Free Agency and David Wright will take us back 10 years as he finally gets his Championship ring.

So let’s all open our windows and let out a cry of LETS GO METS!

Are you excited or nervous about the Mets moving forward?
