#MetsTwitterDraft Interviews: #CheckingInWithEarl

on

If I could have only gotten #CheckingInWithEarl to trend…

What a night it was.  The 1st ever #MetsTwitterDraft was a smashing success.  Mets fans proved again that they are the best in baseball.  Who could have thought that #MetsTwitterDraft would be trending on Twitter in America?  Just fantastic.

The reactions from people getting picked, waiting to be picked, and not getting picked ranged from “Pick me! Pick me!”, to “”#MetsTwitterDraft is only for the cool kids.”.  99% of #MetsTwitter had fun with it but as you could imagine, there were a select few that were so insecure in their own Twitter popularity, that they needed to try to defame it,  instead of going along and having fun.  But to each is own.

For those of us who are the “cool kids”, a special thanks has to go out to Matthew Falkenbury and John Presser for taking Mark Ethe’s idea and turning it into a #MetsTwitter sensation.  It was pulled off flawlessly and was as entertaining as anyone could have hoped for.

For the #MetsTwitter faithful who didn’t get picked, I applaud the 99% of you who realized that it was all in fun and was never about “being better than everyone else”. If anyone was offended by it, or were mad that they didn’t get picked, my only suggestion to you is that maybe Twitter isn’t for you.  OR, the other suggestion is that you don’t constantly call people names, throw out racial epithets, or use gay slurs.  But that post is for another day…

I was lucky enough to conduct the live draft interviews last night.  I didn’t know how many people would actually respond or if they did, what kind of replies I would get.  It would have been pure Twitter gold if Kevin Burkhardt would have answered my tweet, but it’s ok.  So here are the responses that I got.

Thank you again to the #MetsTwitter faithful that made this a ton of fun. Without you none of this would have been possible!
