Noah Syndergaard Became the First Pitcher Since 1913 to Do This…

Noah Syndergaard became the first pitcher since 1913 with at least 270 strikeouts and fewer than 50 walks in his first 38 career games.

Syndergaard has five games with double-digit strikeouts and no walks in his first 38 career games, the most such games in the majors since 1913. Syndergaard struck out Andrew McCutchen for his 100th strikeout of the year. He reached 100 strikeouts in 81.1 innings, the fastest in team history by innings.

Pedro Martinez held the old mark of 86.0 innings in 2005 when he hit the 100 strikeout mark
