Buster Olney: Mets on Verge of Acquiring Jay Bruce

on

The Mets are on the verge of acquiring outfielder Jay Bruce from the Cincinnati Reds, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney. Joel Sherman reports it’s Brandon Nimmo and two lower-level prospects going the other way.

Bruce, 29, is hitting .265 with 25 homers and 80 RBI. In his career, which spans nine years, he has a .249 career batting average and a .319 OBP. His best season came in 2013 when he hit 30 homers and drove in 109 runs. The Mets hope they are getting a middle-of-the-order force who can help turn their season around.
