on

An online petition to bring a Tom Seaver statue to Citi Field is picking up steam, with more than 300 signatures in just a few hours. The petition, which is addressed to Mets Owner Jeff Wilpon and New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, was started by Mets’ fan Nick Albicocco.

“Tom “The Franchise” Seaver is long-deserving of a statue at Citi Field commemorating his achievements with the New York Mets,” Nick writes. “Sign this petition to show your support as he battles dementia!”

The petition, which you can sign by clicking here, has already received some nice media attention from the New York Post and Yardbarker.

By all means! It should have been done years ago!

The Mets should have added a Tom Seaver statue the day Citi field opened. I am heartbroken to hear of Toms
    Illness.
