Post Game: Mets 3 Astros 1

on

Despite being unable to wear his bracelets, RA was able to contain the Astros.

The Mets snapped their losing skid today by beating the Astros by a score of 3-1. RA Dickey won his 16th game of the season as he hurled 7 innings of one run ball. While he only struck out 2, the Astros did not make much solid contact at all today. After Dickey was done, Jon Rauch and Josh Edgin combined for a scoreless 8th and then Frank Francisco earned the save in the 9th.

The Mets offense was still pretty bad today, but they managed to score enough to win the game. RA Dickey helped his own cause with an RBI single. Jason Bay also added an RBI single. Justin Turner hit his first homerun of the season today. These were the Mets’ only scoring plays of the game.

It is nice to see the team win even in the dog days of summer. This team has looked exhausted lately, and games like this are refreshing. The Astros are a team that the Mets should beat 7 times out of 10, even though that hasn’t been that case thus far. Tomorrow the Mets will attempt to win the series against Houston with Jeremy Hefner taking on Lucas Harrell. Game time is set for 1:10pm EST.
