Post Game: Mets 3 D-Backs 6

on

Davis had a career night- going 4-4 with 3 homers, and he now has 20 on the season.

The Mets fell to Arizona by a score of 6-3 tonight. Chris Young took the loss tonight, and aside from Ike Davis, the lineup was pretty quiet tonight.

Chris Young was ineffective from the start, as his fastball was hittable all game long. Young had to be pulled after just 4 innings, as he had nothing working for him tonight. His final line ended up being 4IP, 7H, 6R, 6ER, 2BB, 2K, 1HR, L.

After Young’s 4 poor inning, the bullpen tossed 4 scoreless. Ramon Ramirez went two innings, then Acosta went 1.1 innings while striking out 3. Josh Edgin then entered the game and struck out both batters he faced.

Ike Davis had the best offensive nights of his career, hitting 3 solo shots in a 4 for 4 night. Ike has been hitting very well lately, and if he can keep this up the rest of the way, I think he will regain the confidence of the fan base heading into next season.

Rueben Tejada added a pair of hits and a spectacular catch in foul ground. Other than Davis and Tejada, the Mets’ offense was brutal, striking out a total of 13 times.

This was another one of those games where the Mets fell into a big hole early and they then struggled to get back in the game. This team will go as far as the starting pitching takes them, and when your starter only goes 4 innings, it makes it tough to win.

The Mets look to avoid a series loss tomorrow with RA Dickey on the mound against Joe Saunders. Game time is 4:10 PM eastern time.
