Post Game: Reds 4 Mets 1

on

Niese settled in after a rough first inning, but still took the loss tonight.

The Mets fell to the Reds by a score of 4-1 tonight. This clinches a series loss for the Mets.

Jonathan Niese gave up a 1st inning 3 run homer to Jay Bruce. After this homerun Niese settled down to go 7 innings giving up 4 runs. The Mets lone run came on an RBI double by David Wright.

The Mets had some great chances to capitalize against Homer Bailey but they were unable to come through more than once. Bailey finished 8 innings giving up that one run.

Aroldis Chapman saved the game for the Reds after Andres Torres reached base.

Hopefully the Mets can take the finale tomorrow so they can avoid being swept. The fortunate part is that the Nationals and Braves also lost today so the Mets did not lose any ground in the standings.

Tomorrow Chris Young takes the hill for the Mets against Johnny Cueto. Game time is 1:05 eastern on PIX11.
