The Mets lost to the Yankees tonight by a score of 4-2. Dillon Gee pitched well for the Mets, pitching 7 innings giving up 3 runs. Gee surrendered a go ahead 2 run home run in the 6th inning.

The Yankees opened the scoring in the 1st inning off Gee, scratching out a run. The Mets responded with homers by Omar Quintanilla and David Wright to take a one run lead until the 6th, when Mark Teixeira hit a go ahead two run homer.

Granderson added a home run off Bobby Parnell in the 8th, and Soriano closed out the game for the Yankees.

Overall, it is very important that the Mets win tomorrow to avoid getting swept by their crosstown rival. This week the Mets have been losing ground in the standings very quickly. It is vital to get back on the right track as soon as possible. Jonathan Niese will take the mound tomorrow. Game time is 1:05 PM eastern.
