on

Winners of four games in a row, the Mets are going for the sweet, sweet, sweep of the Philadelphia Filthies this afternoon.  Although he did not have his best stuff lat night, Matt Harvey pitched a solid 6 1/3 innings, while allowing two runs, six hits, two walks, and had six strikeouts.  Harvey collected his third win of the season to move him to 3-3 on season with a 2.76 ERA. Along with the solid start, Harvey also helped himself with an RBI single that boosted his average up to .462 on the season.  Lucas Duda has made the most of his call up so far.  He put the Mets ahead for good in the 3rd inning with a two run homer to give the Mets a 3-2 lead, that the bullpen made stick.

Today at 1pm Jon Niese (10-7 3.51 ERA) will square off against Kyle Kendrick (7-9 4.12 ERA) on SNY.  If you are unable to be in front of the TV this afternoon, you can always listen to the game on WFAN 660 AM.

Pitching Matchup

Jon Niese (10-7 3.51 ERA) gets the call today for the Mets. In four starts against the Phillies this year, Niese is 2-0 with a 2.55 ERA.  In his last start he allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings in a 3-1 loss to the Astros.  Jon wasn’t very sharp, but he kept an amazing streak alive.  John has made 15 consecutive starts in which he’s gone at least 6 innings and walked two batters or less.  Jimmy Rollins is normally a thorn in the Mets side, but in his career is only 2 for 13 with 4 k’s.

Kyle Kendrick (7-9 4.12 ERA) is on the hill for the Phils.  According to Nicolino Dibenedetto of Yahoo! Sports, “Kendrick is 0-5 with a 5.87 ERA in his last seven games – three starts – at home against New York, and was hit hard in his most recent matchup May 9. He surrendered five runs with two walks while hitting another batter in just over an inning of relief to get charged with a 10-6 loss.”  Kendrick in on a 3 game winning streak, in which he has a 0.83 ERA.
