Rapid Reaction: Mets 4, Marlins 3

RECORD: The Mets improved to 83-61 and are now 22 games over .500 for the first time since the last day of the 2006 season when the team was 97-65.

METSCELLANEOUS: The Mets have won eight games in a row, the longest current winning streak in the majors…New York improved to 46-24 at home with tonight’s win…The Mets are 36-19 in the second half.

COMEBACKS: New York overcame a 3-1 deficit to win tonight’s game. It is the Mets’ 38th come from behind victory this season and their 16th since Aug. 1. The 16 comeback wins since Aug. 1 lead the major leagues.

ONE-RUN GAMES: The Mets improved to 24-23 in one-run games and are 18-6 in one-run games at home.

VS. THE NL EAST: New York improved to 45-20 versus the NL East, including a 23-7 mark at home.

METS HOME RUNS: New York homered for the fourth straight game and has homered in 13 of its last 14 games. They’ve hit 26 total home runs during that span.

YOENIS CESPEDES: Hit his 35th home run of the season with a solo shot in the third inning. Has homered in three straight starts and in nine of his last 13 games overall. Has hit 17 home runs in 41 games since joining the Mets after hitting 18 in 102 games with Detroit. Seven of his 17 home runs with the Mets have given the Mets the lead or tied the game (six go-ahead, one game-tying). Has hit 22 home runs since the All-Star break, 17 home runs since Aug. 1 and seven since Sept. 1. After not homering in his first 10 games with the Mets, all 17 of Cespedes home runs have come since Aug. 12, which is the most in the majors since that date.

CESPEDES 17 MET HOME RUNS: Yoenis Cespedes has 17 home runs since being acquired by the Mets on July 31. Mark McGwire is the only other player in major league history who was traded during the season with more home runs after July 31 (among players who played at least one game for a team before being traded). McGwire hit 24 home runs in 1997 after being traded from Oakland to St. Louis. Cespedes’ 17 homers are tied for second-most with Manny Ramirez (2008) and Mark Teixeira (2007) in that category. Cespedes’ 17 home runs since Aug. 1 are tied for third-most in franchise history by any Met after August 1 with Darryl Strawberry (1985), Mike Piazza (1999) and Gary Carter (1985) each hit 19 home runs from Aug. 1 through the end of the season. TRAVIS d’ARNAUD: Hit a game-tying two-run homer in the sixth inning for his 12th home run of the season. Seven of d’Arnaud’s home runs have either given the Mets the lead or tied the game (four game-tying, three go-ahead). Has 40 RBI in 52 games this year, including nine RBI in his last eight games. Is batting .432 (16-37) with three home runs and 10 RBI in 11 games this month.

DAVID WRIGHT: Broke a tie game with an RBI double (ground-rule) in the seventh inning. Was his second game-winning RBI of the season and his second in the last week (Sept. 7 at Washington). Finished tonight’s game 2-for-4 with two doubles. Has eight multi-hit games since returning from the Disabled List on Aug. 24.

CURTIS GRANDERSON: Walked as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning. Has drawn a walk in 10 consecutive games dating to Sept. 4 (15 walks total during streak). That streak matches a career-high, also done last season from May 24 to June 1.

JEURYS FAMILIA: Converted on his 41st save of the season and is now 41-of-46 this season Is now tied with Armando Benitez for second on the club’s single-season save list with 41 saves (2000). Has allowed one earned run over his last 23.0 innings (0.39 ERA) dating to July 31.

LOGAN VERRETT: Allowed one run, earned, in 5.0 innings while striking out three and walking one. Has allowed two runs in 13.0 innings (1.38 ERA) with 11 strikeouts in his two starts for the Mets this season.
