Ron Darling Appears in SNL Promo

on

In 1987, Mets pitcher Ron Darling, who currently is an analyst for SNY, appeared in a promo for Saturday Night Live, which is holding its 40th anniversary celebration Sunday night.

“Hi, I’m Ron Darling of the New York Mets,” he says. “I had a choice…pitch in the World Series or watch the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. Lucky for me, I broke my hand.”

Is it me, or is that not funny? Here’s the video of his appearance in the promo.

Seth Meyers also did a piece on SNL talking about how then-Met Jose Reyes posed nude on the cover of ESPN The Magazine.

“ESPN Magazine features New York Mets player Jose Reyes posing completely naked,” Meyers said. “Reyes says he’s not embarrassed because plenty of great athletes have played for the Mets.”
