Stache Throwback Thursday: Sprinklers At Shea Interrupt A Pedro Martinez Start

on

As has become a bit of a tradition on twitter and other social media places, Thursdays have become “Throwback Thursdays” as people share things from their past.

So we here at The Daily Stache figured we would join the crowd and provide you with a Mets Throwback Thursday moment that we find among the vast jungle that is the internet.

For our first moment that we found, we bring you that time, during a Mets-Diamondbacks game at Shea Stadium in 2005, the sprinklers went off in the middle of the game with Pedro Martinez on the mound.

The Mets won that night 6-1 with Pedro getting the win to improve to 6-1 as he threw eight innings giving up five hits, one run on a solo home run by current MLBPA leader Tony Clark in the second with zero walks and nine strikeouts.

After the game Pedro was quoted as saying “Water is blessing to me, and I got wet.”

The 2005 Mets and the season that Pedro had that year was a lot of fun to watch. Sadly Pedro would never have another year like that for the Mets but he certainly was fantastic that season.
