VICTORY! Early Power Surge Sends Mets to World Series

on

In what’s a sweet day for Mets’ fans around the globe, they completed the four game sweep with an 8-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night.

The Mets kicked off the scoring with two outs and full count, when Lucas Duda launched a three-run bomb to center field. Watch below:

Travis d’Arnaud, who followed, must have taken some tips, because he followed with a homer of his own. Check below for the video:

Duda later doubled in two to give the Mets a 6-0 lead. The Cubs got one back on an RBI groundout. Check out Duda’s double below:

Oh, and Daniel Murphy was 4-for-5 with yet another homer. I am lost for words.

Steven Matz pitched 4 2/3 before being relieved by Bartolo Colon. While he was good enough, Terry Collins had a short leash to ensure the Mets put the game on ice.

It wasn’t all peaches and rainbows for the Mets, as Yoenis Cespedes left in the second inning with a sore left shoulder. Collins, during a mid-game interview, said Cespedes couldn’t lift his left arm. Six days off should do the trick, one would imagine. Tyler Clippard looked bad again, giving up a two-run homer to Kris Bryant.

Anyway, it’s been 15 years since the Mets clinched a World Series appearance, but they’re in. Now let’s hope the Blue Jays and Royals beat each other up in a seven-game series. Let the celebrations begin!
