Welcome Back Matt Harvey

on

Matt Harvey worked seven scoreless innings and allowed two hits to earn his fourth win of the season Monday. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.

The seven innings is Harvey’s longest outing this season and his longest start in the regular season since he went eight innings vs. Colorado on Aug. 11, 2015. It’s the 10th start in Harvey’s career where he’s allowed two hits or fewer. He is now 5-1 in those starts with a 0.53 ERA (four earned runs/68 innings).

Yesterday’s win for Matt Harvey was his first career win when the Mets have scored two or fewer runs. Harvey had previously been 0-17 with a 2.67 ERA (56 earned runs/188.2 innings) in 30 career starts where the Mets had scored two or fewer runs.

With his seven scoreless innings yesterday vs. the White Sox, Harvey has now thrown 16 scoreless innings in two career starts vs. Chicago. He’s struck out 19 and walked two in the two starts. His other start vs. the White Sox came on May 7, 2013, when he tossed nine scoreless innings in that outing and retired the first 20 batters he faced in that game. Harvey struck out 13 and walked two.
