David Wright Has Shoulder Impingement, Opening Day in Question

on

It was nice to see David Wright in the batter’s box recently, but after a limited sample size, we already have reason for concern.

According to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo, Wright has a shoulder impingement and is questionable for opening day. This is definitely not what we wanted to hear after his recent injury troubles.

Luckily for the Mets, there are options at third base. Jose Reyes will undoubtedly get the first shot, with guys like Wilmer Flores, Matt Reynolds and T.J. Rivera ready if needed. Ty Kelly could also get reps as a bench guy if any of those guys go down.

Hopefully, this injury is minor and we will see Wright healthy soon, although I can’t help but be a pessimist on this particular topic.
