It’s not a secret that Michael Cuddyer’s first year as a Met has been uneven, and referencing it that way is being rather kind.
Cuddyer is hitting .130 (6-46) with 11 strikeouts and a .184 OBP over his last 14 games dating to June 13. He had an 0-for-14 skid from June 19-25. He has a .200 (14-70) average with RISP with 22 strikeouts. His 22 strikeouts are ninth in the NL with RISP, and he is 0-for-his-last-9 with RISP.
On the bright side, Cuddyer is hitting .324 (11-34) with two doubles and four RBI on the first pitch of his at-bats. He had a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning on June 11 vs. SF, which was Cuddyer’s fourth walk-off RBI of his career and first since April 19, 2006 with Minnesota when he hit a pinch-hit, walk-off home run against the Angels.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, Cuddyer entered that game with the longest current streak of consecutive games (1,140) without a walk-off RBI among active players.
Swing the damn bat Michael, and hopefully, you can work your way out of this.
