All Hail the Mighty Thor: Syndergaard Comes Back Strong in Mets Game 2 Win

The Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-1 Sunday to take a commanding 2-0 series lead. Game three will be on Tuesday in Chicago.

The Mets got on the board after a single by Curtis Granderson and an RBI double by the captain, David Wright, in the top of the first. Daniel Murphy followed up with yet another homer, giving the Mets a 3-0 lead. Granderson would score again later on on an infield hit by Yoenis Cespedes to give the Mets a 4-0 lead, and the Cubs’ lone run scored on an RBI double by Kris Bryant.

Noah Syndergaard was solid for the Mets, going 5 2/3 innings before Jon Niese bailed him out in the sixth. After scoreless seventh and eighth innings by Addison Reed and Tyler Clippard, Jeurys Familia closed things out in the ninth.
