All Quiet on the Flushing Front

on

Was this not supposed to be the offseason it all comes together?

Was this not the off season that Sandy will have no constraints and can spend as he pleases? Was this not supposed to be the off season we finally will have our first major league shortstop since Jose Reyes took his talents to south beach!?

Where are you Sandy Alderson? Where are you Wilpons? It is now January and this team has almost many questions about it as it did back in October.

Michael Cuddyer was signed on Nov. 11 and was supposed to be proof that this offseason will be different than years past but it has become pretty obvious that the Cuddyer signing is basically this year’s Curtis Granderson signing. Yes he is a major league outfielder who has put up big numbers before but he still is an injury risk and has many questions about what he will provide in 2015.

Oh yes the Mets also moved the walls in this year to create more home runs and excitement this year, but let’s remember the walls do not move back when the away team bats and the majority of those lineups will have more firepower than the starting eight slotted to represent the blue and orange this year.

Granted Sandy did warn all of us that they may not be as active as some fans want them to be this offseason but are we really supposed to be content going into spring training with nothing to show for in the offseason than one major league signing that was done back in November?

Fans can fantasize all they want that the reason the Mets are not interested in any available shortstop is because they are in the works for a blockbuster deal for Tulowitzki but the odds of that happening are the same as the Knicks making a playoff run this year.  Sandy is too cheap to eat his contract and the prospects Colorado wants Sandy will not give, if a deal was to happen don’t you think it would have by now. The Tulo rumors are just this decades Manny Ramirez rumors.

“One of our pitchers will likely be moved,” Sandy said, yet here we are still with Gee, Niese and Colon on our roster and no word of any of them being moved because Sandy clearly is holding these pitchers in higher regard than the rest of baseball does and refuses to move them. Does anyone think that we will see any of them moved before spring training starts now?

Teams in the division, across town and all over MLB continue to improve and alter their teams to line them up have the best chance to succeed in 2015. The Mets? The biggest news regarding our team over the last month or so is that fans are getting so mad that they are trying to get a billboard put up and causing other fans to argue with them over the legitimacy of that effort.

This is what you have done Sandy, Fred and Jeff, #Metstwitter is creating the one of biggest news stories regarding this team in the offseason, so I ask again. Where are you guys?
