First and foremost I’d like to thank everyone who voted this week in the Mets Twitter Brackets. We tallied nearly 5,000 votes for the opening round and (almost) everyone seemed to have a lot of fun with this. As I stated before, I don’t know every blog or every tweeter out there, so I apologize if your feelings were hurt.
We are well aware that there were attempts to fraudulently alter the vote (I mean seriously, who cares that much about trolling an internet poll, that they go to 6 different locations to vote against someone?), but we can assure you that we don’t take ourselves seriously enough to ruin great relationships we have built with other blogs, journalists, and Mets personnel, to do those type of immature and irresponsible things.
Who would have thought that two #1 seeds, Adam Rubin in the Journalists region and MetsBlog.com in the Mets Blogs region, would lose in the first round? There’s even a possibility of a #15 vs #16 Elite 8 matchup between Mike Vorkunov from the Star-Ledger and Tim Rohan from the NY Times in the Journalists region. I’m not sure what that says about the two #1’s and a #2 going out in the first round other than, haters gonna hate? Either way it was funny/entertaining and I’m glad to see those involved had a good time with it.
On Monday and Tuesday morning we will be opening up the voting for the second round. Monday will feature the Journalists and Mets on Twitter regions, and Tuesday will feature the Mets Blogs and Mets TV/Radio personalities.
We have conformation that on Monday night, one of the #1 seeds who lost in the opening round will be joining us on Stache Radio. There is also a possibility of a second guest who has survived and moved on. So please make sure to follow @StacheRadio on twitter to find out who those special guests will be.
