When Mike Ganci and I started this website, we wanted to be as professional as possible and write in the manner. We wanted to speak our minds without the addition of words that are considered, not safe for work.
Well to end my silence on the matter of the Mets and what they are doing with regards to Jose Reyes, I only have this to say…..
WHAT THE ****!?????????????? SERIOUSLY! WHAT THE ****!??? THE MARLINS!? THE ******* CHEAP ASS MARLINS!!!! THATS WHO JOSE REYES IS GONNA PLAY FOR???? WE CANT AFFORD 106 MILLION DOLLARS!!! AND THE ******* MARLINS CAN! THIS IS SOME SERIOUS BULL ****.
(Deep Breath, Count to 10, Regroup and Rationalize)
We can play the blame game (Wilpons get my blame) and we can also wonder just what the hell is going to happen for the 2012 season as the Marlins not only just got better, but made us worse in just one move.
But really the reality of this whole situation is this, it was going to happen, it to some people, needed to happen and in the end the Mets now need to take a step back, regroup and just move on.
This blog has been pretty dormant since the end of the season and my twitter has been pretty quiet as well. And for good reason I think.
I dont report on rumors and possibilities and other garbage when it comes to the Hot Stove season because more often than not, its just a waste of time.
Teams don’t win or lose World Series based what happens in the offseason, just ask a Phillies fan about that. But the hope of one? Oh man, that can be lost with just a signature on a piece of paper.
Sandy Alderson and friends will take a hit on this from some fans. It comes with the job and Im sure he knows that all too well.
But in my opinion, what in the world could he have done? When your boss tells you that you need to cut the payroll by 50 million and your predecessor locks you into long term, high salary deals to only a few, what can you do?
He walked into the lions den and although he was pinned against the wall from the beginning, the Owners took away his gun and gave him a sharpened stick, only so much he could have done.
If the Major League Baseball Player Association got fed up with the Marlins being uber-cheap in the past, what could they be thinking as the National Leagues New York Representative is slashing playroll and letting great players walk.
This is not Pittsburgh or Kansas City, this is New York City and watching players leave is not something that we are used too, especially when they are the Superstar quality of Jose Reyes.
In the end, the Mets for the first time since June of 2003 will take the field without Jose Reyes either with them, or on the DL and that will take some time to adjust too.
David Wright is still on the Mets of course and he is the face of this franchise going forward as he has to go from Robin to Nighthawk with Batman heading out of town.
In the end, the Mets have to deal with this and the Fans will have to recover and both will, because every team goes through this at one point or another and they always seem to recover.
Unless your the Pittsburgh Pirates and God help us all if the Mets end up like the Pirates. Because if you think tonight is bad? Wait 20 years for a winning season and then think back.
April 24th is when the Marlins visit Citi Field for the first time. and for the first time Jose Reyes will be leading off a Mets game and nobody will be thrilled about it.
