The Mets fell to the Diamondbacks tonight by a final score of 5-4 which will bring the Mets to a record of 13-13, and at the .500 level for the second time this year. It was a great game for the first 8 innings, including 6 strong innings from tonights starter, Dillon Gee, who gave up just 2 earned runs on a Cody Ransom HR to left field, but also had 6 K’s.
Bobby Parnell had a solid inning out of the pen, recording his 4th hold of the year. Tonights game came crashing down when John Rauch entered the game with 1 out in the 8th inning to relieve Tim Byrdak. Rauch entered the game and immediatly gave up a 2 run double to Paul Goldschmidt to tie the game at 4. The dbacks took the lead on a Cody Ransom RBI single.
The Mets were just 2-11 with RISP, and the only two hits came in the 3rd inning where the Mets scored 4 runs to take a 4-2 lead which would last until the 8th inning.
On the Mets side, the star was Scott Hairston who had the biggest knock of the game for the Mets. Hairston had a 2 RBI double to start the 3rd inning rally.
In other news besides baseball, the Mets honored Adam MCA Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who passed away today at the young age of 47. All the Mets batters took the plate to a Beastie Boys song and it was an excellent tribute.
I tried to hide this at the end of the post, but Ike Davis limped off the field after twisting his ankle.
