Post-Game: Giants 6 – Mets 1

on

Davis continues to struggle after going 0-4 today in the loss

The Mets were defeated by a score of 6-1 in the first game of the double header.  Miguel Batista lasted just 3.2 innings allowing 6 runs on 7 hits, although only 3 were earned after the Ike Davis error.

The Giants got off to a fast start against Batista scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning.  Pablo Sandoval extended his hit streak to 15 games dating back to last season, scoring Melky Cabrera.  Buster Posey then followed with a solo shot to left center to make it a 2-0 game in the first.

Ike Davis continued to struggle today going 0-4, 0-3 with runners in scoring position.  Ike’s average on the season is down to .138.

One bright side to the game was the Major League debut of Jeremy Hefner.  Hefner threw 79 pitches in 3 innings of work, allowing 3 hits, 1 walk, and no strikeouts.  Hefner looked excellent but was optioned back down to AAA Buffalo after the game to make room for Jordany Valdespin

The night cap of the double header starts at 8 pm, as Dillon Gee will take the hill against Madison Bumgarner.
