Pre-Game: New York Mets (63-70) @ Florida MarLOLins (59-74)

on

And some Mets fans out there think Terry Collins should be fired?  HA!  What a job by Ozzie Guillen last night.  MarLOLins Ace Josh Johnson, was mowing down Mets hitters all night and carried a 2-1 lead into the 9th inning.  But as what has become a custom, the closer automatically was brought in to the 9th inning, to add to a meaningless stat.  Johnson had only thrown 105 pitches to that point.  But here’s what ensued…

Pitching Matchup

Chris Young (3-7 4.64 ERA) gets the call today for the Mets.  Young has struggled big time recently.  His velocity seems down (as if it’s not down to begin with) and his control has not been sharp.  In his last four starts he is  0-2 with a 5.91 ERA.  That includes allowing seven runs and three homers in 4 1/3 innings against the Marlins on Aug. 8th.

For the Marlins, Mark Buehrle (12-11 3.62 ERA) will be on the hill.  In his last start, Buehrle held Los Angeles to one run and six hits over 5 2-3 innings in a 6-2 win. Buehrle improved to 3-0 with a 2.29 ERA over his past three starts.  In his 2 career starts against the Mets (both this year) he has a  2.63 ERA, in his last start against the Mets, Buehrle gave up two runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 6-5 victory.
