Last night, Matt Harvey went on National TV and showed the whole nation what us Mets fans have seen from him starting last August.
After the game he admitted that he did not have his best stuff and still made the Phillies lineup look totally lost.
In his first two starts of the season he is 2-0, allowing one run, four hits and striking out 19 in 14 innings pitched.
That my friends is some seriously awesome stats to have to start a season.
So, with that in mind, here are some thoughts from the guys who get paid the big bucks or have the experience on a major league mound about the Mets newest ace pitcher.
Scout on Harvey’s fastball: “Dare I say he has a Dwight Gooden-ish hop up on top? Guys are swinging and missing by 3 to 5 inches.” #Mets

Matt Harvey’s stuff is tremendous: high 90’s, slider, curveball and a really good change-up. Great makeup. And, the son of a coach.

If given a choice between Matt Harvey, David Price, Jered Weaver and R.A. Dickey, would probably favor Met. Kid has electric, magical stuff.
