Was Marlon Byrd’s Double Actually A Home Run?

Marlon Byrd hit a double in the bottom of the 9th inning that from TV replays hit the orange line and was a double. The umpires went in to review it and confirmed the call. But the Picture you see above might just prove that the call was not correct.

A ball at Citi Field that hits the fencing above the orange line is considered a home run. In this case it seems that the picture shows it did just that.

If it had been a home run, the game would have been tied. Of course Josh Satin drove in Byrd with the tying run with a single in the next AB and the Mets won 5-4 in 13 innings over the Diamondbacks.

But, it is at least food for thought.
