Yankees Series Won’t Define 2015 Mets

on

Well that figures. The Mets just had to go into Yankee Stadium and lose 2 of 3. Yankee fans that have been in denial over the Mets’ quality this season just got what they needed to continue to convince themselves that the Mets aren’t for real.

Mets fans, no doubt, have already been inundated with text messages, tweets and Facebook posts from Yankee fans declaring that they’ve won back NY. Well I have news for you Yankee fans, these Mets are for real and it’s going to take a lot more than two losses to stop the momentum they just built up.

Boasting over winning 2 of 3 in April doesn’t validate your season. Let’s see where our teams are when we meet again in September. Furthermore, the Yankee victory Sunday was anything but a sure thing. The Mets played sloppily and the Yankees played just well enough not to lose, nothing to pound your chest about.

This subway series proved nothing other than that the Mets are not invincible, but we already knew that. Mets fans have no reason to hang their heads in shame today. The Mets have already put the series in their rear-view mirror, and so should the fans. The Mets have an opportunity to put even more room between them and their division rivals over the next week, let’s focus on that.

About Darren Martino
