With the Mets trailing the Marlins 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth and Marlins Closer Steve Cishek having saved 33 games in a row, things were looking bleak.
With two outs and Lucas Duda on second base after a leadoff hit was followed by a bunt and a line out, up came back up middle infielder Omar Quintanilla.
Q would line an opposite field single to left field to tie the game and after a double by Kirk Nieuwenhuis put runners at second and third up came Curtis Granderson.
The same Curtis Granderson that was hitting .130 and has been booed plenty at Citi Field recently. The same Curtis Granderson that did this….
Way more satisfying than the walk off sac fly he had on Sunday afternoon we believe for Curtis.
The Mets have a way of letting the Marlins knock them down a peg when they are going strong but tonight was a nice comeback win that showed that the little that could, can and will be a tough team to face.
Good for Granderson to come up with the winning hit and good for the Mets bottom of the order and bench players to come up big in the come from behind victory.
