Happy Birthday Gil Hodges


GIl Hodges was born on this day in 1924. He managed the Miracle Mets to their first World Series Championship in 1969.

Hodges was an eight-time All-Star with the Brooklyn Dodgers. An original Met, he hit the first home run in team history. His #14 was the second Mets number to be retired (1973).
