Piazza Honored to be Part of #FranchiseFour

on

Former Mets’ all-star catcher (should be hall of famer) Mike Piazza was named as part of the Mets’ #FranchiseFour, which recognized the top four players in franchise history as voted by the fans.

Piazza joins Tom Seaver, Keith Hernandez and David Wright on the “Mount Rushmore” for the Mets. Here’s what Piazza had to say.

As much as I agree with Seaver and Piazza, I have issues with Wright and Hernandez. You all know we love Keith, but not including Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry is simply wrong.

Hernandez spent parts of seven seasons with the Mets, hitting .297 with a .387 OBP. He hit 80 homers and had 469 RBI, all while playing Gold Glove worthy defense at first base.

Strawberry spent eight years with the Amazins’, hitting .263 with a .359 OBP. He hit 252 homers and 733 RBI during his tenure in Queens.

Wright has hit .298 in 12 years with the Mets, hitting 231 homers and driving in 943 RBI.

As a Met, Gooden was 157-85 with a 3.10 ERA in 11 seasons. He had a ridiculous 67 complete games and struck out 1,875 batters. For more on Gooden and Strawberry, check out the videos below.
