Rapid Recap: Homer Happy Mets Take Subway Series Opener

TONIGHT’S CROWD: Tonight’s crowd of 43,602 is the fifth sellout this season, which ties the 2009 season for sellouts in a season (at Citi Field). It is also the second-largest Mets crowd in Citi Field history (only to Opening Day of this year). It’s the 26th sellout in Citi Field history.

SUBWAY SERIES: The Mets have won eight of the last 12 games between the two clubs dating to 2013…The Mets are 2-2 this season versus the Yankees.

INTERLEAGUE PLAY: The Mets improved to 9-9 (6-2 at home) in Interleague play. The Yankees fell to 9-9 in Interleague play (3-5 on the road).

COMEBACKS: The Mets overcame an early, 1-0, deficit to record their 39th come-from-behind win of the season. The Mets have 17 come-from-behind wins since Aug. 1, the most in the major leagues.

METSCELLANEOUS: The Mets are 11-5 in September, 31-13 since Aug. 1 and 37-21 in the second-half.

METS HOME RUNS: The Mets have hit 29 home runs in their last 17 games with their three home runs tonight. It is the 21st three-homer game by the Mets this season, which is tied for third-most in a single season in team history. The Mets are 19-2 this season when they hit three or more home runs in a game.

DANIEL MURPHY: Connected for his 12th home run of the season, sixth at home, with his go-ahead solo homer in the sixth inning. His 12 home runs are one shy of his career-high (13) set in 2013.

LUCAS DUDA: Homered in the second inning to tie the game at one. Was his 22nd home run of the season and his third game-tying home run. Was his 19th home run at home. The homer broke a 66 at-bat homerless streak for Duda dating to Aug. 2, which matched his longest of the season.

JUAN URIBE: Hit a two-run pinch-hit homer in the seventh inning for his 14th home run of the season (sixth with the Mets). Was the third pinch-hit home run of his career and first since April 11, 2013 at San Diego while playing for the Dodgers.

DAVID WRIGHT: Finished the game 2-for-3 and recorded his 10th multi-hit game since coming off the Disabled List (19 total games). Is hitting .313 (61-195) in his career versus the Yankees. Is batting .304 (24-79) since coming off the DL.

STEVEN MATZ: Tossed 6 innings allowing one run, earned, with one walk and four strikeouts in his second career start at Citi Field. Is the first pitcher in franchise history to allow two runs or fewer in each of his first five career starts. Matz joined Jacob Jacome as the only pitchers in Mets history to win four of their first five career games.

ADDISON REED: Pitched a scoreless inning and struck out two batters. Has not allowed a run since being acquired by the Mets (10 appearances, 10.1 innings pitched, 13 strikeouts). Has allowed three runs over 26.1 innings (1.02 ERA) since July 29.

JEURYS FAMILIA: Tossed a scoreless inning. Has allowed one run over his last 24.0 innings pitched (0.38 ERA) dating to July 31. Familia entered the game with the lowest ERA in the majors over that span (minimum 20.0 innings pitched).
