SERIES NOTES: Improved to 11-6 this season versus Atlanta. The 11 wins are now tied for the most wins in a season versus the Braves in team history. The Mets also won 11 games versus Atlanta in 2006. Overall, the Mets have won five straight versus the Braves.
SHUTOUTS: New York posted its 13th shutout of the season and its eighth at home. The Braves were shut out for a 16th time this year (10th time on the road).
JONATHON NIESE: Pitched 6.0 shutout innings with two strikeouts to earn his ninth win of the season. Has a 1.50 ERA (two earned runs/12.0 innings pitched) over his last two starts. The Mets are 7-2 in his last nine starts.
NIESE VS. ATLANTA: Is now 2-0 with a 1.52 ERA (four earned runs/23.2 innings) in four starts versus the Braves this season. Over his last eight starts versus the Braves, Niese is 3-2 with a 1.93 ERA (11 earned runs/51.1 innings). Seven of the eight starts have been quality starts.
ADDISON REED: Tossed 1.0 scoreless inning. Has not allowed a run in 11.1 innings since being acquired by the Mets on Aug. 30. Has allowed three runs over his last 27.1 innings for a 0.99 ERA since July 29. Had the second lowest ERA in the major leagues since July 29 entering today (minimum 25 innings pitched).
JEURYS FAMILIA: Pitched 1.0 scoreless inning and struck out one. Has allowed one earned run over his last 25.0 innings (0.36 ERA) dating to July 31, which is the lowest ERA in the majors over that span (min. 20 innings).
YOENIS CESPEDES: Went 3-for-4 with two doubles. Now has 41 doubles and 81 extra-base hits on the year. Entered the day tied for fourth in the major leagues in doubles and was second in the major leagues in extra-base hits.
MICHAEL CONFORTO: Hit his eighth home run of the season with a solo shot in the second inning. His eight home runs are tied for fifth-most in Mets history for a player through his first 46 career games.
DANIEL MURPHY: Connected on a two-run double in the seventh inning. Was his 34th double of the season and the 224th of his Met career. Trails Ed Kranepool (225 doubles) on the Mets all-time list.
CURTIS GRANDERSON: Walked twice, singled and scored two runs. Extended his career-high walk total to 88. Entered tonight’s game fifth in the National League in walks and eighth in runs scored.
KELLY JOHNSON: Singled in the sixth inning and has hit safely in seven consecutive games versus the Braves dating to Aug. 21, 2011 when he was a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Is batting .400 (12-30) this month with two doubles, two home runs, seven RBI and seven runs scored (14 games).
ERIC YOUNG: Entered the game as a pinch runner in the seventh inning and scored a run. Has scored eight runs in 14 games since joining the Mets while only having five at-bats.
