T.J. Rivera hit his first major league homer in the 10th inning last night.
Rivera was the first Met to hit his first major league home run in extra-innings since Lastings Milledge did so on June 4, 2006 vs. San Francisco. Research courtesy of the Elias Sports Bureau. Rivera had three RBI in his first 41 at-bats before driving in three runs last night.
Rivera is also the sixth player in Mets history whose first career homer was a go-ahead blast in extra-innings. The others to do so: Steve Henderson (1977), Brian Giles (1982), Melvin Mora (2000), Esix Snead (2002) and Craig Brazell (2004). Info courtesy of Elias.
Rivera became the third Met this season to hit a homer in extra-innings joining Kelly Johnson (June 25 at Atlanta) and Yoenis Cespedes (August 29 vs. Miami).
