As much as I would’ve loved to see Lucas Duda back in a Met’s uniform, Sandy Alderson made the right move.
Duda, in his 8-year professional career has a career batting average of .242 with 138 homeruns and 405 runs batted in. He also has been injury-plagued. His defense hasn’t been the best. Lastly, he would be looked at as competition for Dominic Smith, rather than a mentor.
Adrian Gonzalez, who will be entering his 15th year in the major leagues, can help Smith with hitting, and help him learn the game. He can also be that feared bat off the bench, which we could use.
