Addison Reed and the Pop-Up

on

Addison Reed should fit well into Mets’ fans memories. It was June of 2013, and the Mets were trailing 4-3 to the White Sox. The then-closer Reed was pitching to Daniel Murphy with one on and two out.

And then this happened:

Gary Cohen had one of the most epic voice cracks in recorded history, but Reed, then the closer of the White Sox and one of the better ones at that, has had his stock fall quite a bit since. After his White Sox tenure, the Diamondbacks gave him a one-year deal, and he was subsequently sent to Triple-A before somewhat finding himself since the all-star break.

Hopefully, we’ll get the good Addison Reed. Only time will tell.
