It’s not just just the slew of Mets’ fans who’ve been grossly dissatisfied with Sandy Alderson’s inactivity as the offense continues to flounder. Former Mets’ on-field reporter Kevin Burkhardt, who has now moved on to bigger and better things with FOX, has a message of his own.
Mets staff ERA last 13G- 1.65. #Mets record last 13G- 7-6. Go get Justin Upton!!

I’m honestly torn on this topic. It all depends on the price, and the Mets are likely not going to be alone vying for the outfielder’s services, should they prove interested. I wouldnt think that the Mets would part with any of Michael Conforto, Noah Syndergaard or Steven Matz in a deal, unless it brought back a cornerstone bat who would be a Met for years to come. Upton, 27, is going to be a free agent at year’s end and is already playing on his third major league team (Arizona, Atlanta and San Diego). What makes you think he would re-sign at the end of the season?
Thus far in 2015, Upton is batting .259 with 14 homers and 46 RBI. Sure, his addition would give the lineup a much-needed boost, but I don’t think it’s worth mortgaging the future for a rental. I feel the same way about Ben Zobrist. An interesting guy to monitor as the deadline approaches is Jay Bruce. Bruce, 28, has 12 homers and 41 RBI, and would likely cost less in a return, one would think. He’s also versatile and can play some first base as well.
Rumors are going to be flying for weeks, and their track record indicates that Sandy and Co. will likely just sit on their hands for another year. Only time will tell.
