Things seemed to be going smoothly until runners were on first and third with one out in the seventh. The score was 2-1 Mets.
Collins just brought in Colon to relieve Syndergaard, and he got Howie Kendrick to hit a grounder up the middle. Daniel Murphy flipped to Ruben Tejada for one, and Tejada made an acrobatic move to try to get the second out, and Chase Utley took him out with a late slide, as his head connected with Tejada’s knee. The Mets’ shortstop was taken out on a stretcher with a knee injury.
While he was taken out, the Dodgers challenged the force play, and Utley was ruled safe, which is proposterous since it was a neighborhood play and Utley himself never touched second base and ran to the dugout. Absolute garbage.

Here’s some reaction from players and others from MLB on Twitter:
As soon as he jogged off the field he surrendered his out. Umps got this one wrong. Needs to be fixed.

Utley has always been a dirty player…

I’m very angry about that brutal dirty slide and confused as to how someone can be ruled safe without touching a base???? — Anthony Recker (@Anthony_Recker) October 11, 2015
Can’t wait to hear this explanation!! — Frank J. Viola, Jr. (@FrankViola16) October 11, 2015
You want to win, but you almost want to concede this game and drill Utley!!!

If you slide like that at 2nd the runner at first should be out automatically. You can’t continue to reward putting players at injury risk
