Tony Phillips, who played for the Mets in 1998, has died at age 56.
Phillips played 18 years in the big leagues, batting .266 with an impressive .374 OBP. In 1993, he has an amazing season, hitting .313 with a .443 OBP, which got him some MVP votes.
In his lone season with the Mets, Phillips played 52 games with the Mets. He only hit .223, but again had a whopping .351 OBP. The man knew how to get on base.
