Gavin Cecchini is one of the Mets young up-and-coming prospects that they’re excited about, and this is the first season he’s been able to enjoy a big league camp.
Now, nobody expects him to make the team, and rightfully so, but that doesn’t make Cecchini any less appreciative for getting the chance to head to Port St. Lucie and show the club what he’s made of.
He took to Instagram Sunday morning to share his thoughts about the whole process thus far:
My first big league spring training. I want to thank my parents, brother, coaches, and friends for helping me achieve one of my goals. I’ve always dreamed of putting on that big league uniform and I can’t be happier that it’s with a great organization like the New York Mets. Can’t wait to help bring championships to NY! #LGM #blueandorange
The 21-year-old got as high as Binghamton last season, and in 126 minor league games last year, he hit .246 with 8 homers and 56 RBI. The Mets will surely have a close eye on him and his development this spring.
