Matt Reynolds took to Instagram to voice how excited he was with the result of Monday’s game.
Not only was it the successful return of Matt Harvey, who struck out three in two perfect innings of work, but Reynolds launched a game-winning solo homer to give the Mets a 5-4 victory. Here’s Reynolds’ thoughts.
Unbelievable feeling today! Thank you for all the support! #LGM #SpringTraining https://t.co/obj4NcV3LB

He seems like a down-to-earth kid who’s easy to root for. I would love for him to break camp with the team, but it would likely take an injury to Wilmer Flores to make that happen. If Daniel Murphy went down, Dilson Herrera would likely be the first man up seeing as his major league clock is already ticking. I wish it wasn’t about politics, but that obviously plays into it.
Other than that, Wilmer Flores needs to hit under the Mendoza line and play atrocious defense to make Reynolds break camp with the team. It’s just not a scenario that’s likely to happen. Even if he doesn’t make the team, he’ll be lurking in Triple-A, which will hopefully put some pressure on Flores to perform.
We’ll see.
