Rumors are going to be spreading galore, so believe what you’d like, but the following tweet was just put out by Jon Morosi of Fox Sports:
#Mets have had trade talks with #Brewers recently, in which Aramis Ramirez and Jean Segura have been discussed.

Listen, I am not the biggest fan of Aramis Ramirez, but he cannot be any worse than what we’ve been trotting out there. It looks like, while not confirmed, that he is on his farewell tour, with his retirement looming at season’s end. In his prime, he was one of the most dangerous right-handed batters in the game, but that’s not what he is now. Here are the stats, courtesy of ESPN.
While the 10 homers are nice, the average is not. He serves a purpose though, as even if he comes off the bench, he would be our most dangerous weapon late in the game. Sorry John Mayberry Jr.
The other man the Mets are discussing is Jean Segura, the speedy shortstop who is still young and under team control. Here’s a look at Segura’s stats, once again courtesy of ESPN.
He’s also 12-for-14 in stolen base attempts. His on-base percentage is low for the top of the lineup, but he’d be a better option at shortstop than Ruben Tejada. He does have 12 errors on the season though, but remember, he’s just 25 years old.
It comes down to cost, as do all trades. These two are not worth any of deGrom, Syndergaard or Matz (injured). I doubt the Mets are looking to deal from the major league roster due to the recent flux of injuries. Maybe Gabriel Ynoa and another prospect gets the deal done? We will have to wait and see.
My guess: The Mets sit tight, and as always, preach to us that next year is the year.
