Mets reveal player development staff

FLUSHING, N.Y., February 17, 2023 - The New York Mets announced today their 2023 minor league coaching staffs, as well their player development and medical personnel for the upcoming season. 

Dick Scott will begin his first season as the manager for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets after serving as the organization’s coordinator of coaching development and instruction for the past two seasons. Reid Brignac enters his fourth season with the organization and his second as the manager at Double-A Binghamton. Chris Newell will manage High-A Brooklyn and Gilbert Gomez will be at the helm for Single-A St. Lucie. Both Newell and Gomez served as the bench coach for each of their respective ballclubs last season.

After serving as Triple-A Syracuse’s bench coach in 2022, Jay Pecci begins his first season as manager of the Florida Complex League Mets. Danny Ortega will begin his first season with the organization as the manager for Dominican Summer League Mets #1. Ortega spent the prior two seasons as the hitting coach for the Red Sox Dominican Republic Academy and has also coached in the Los Angeles Angels (2018-2019) and Houston Astros (2010-2017) organizations. Mac Seibert IV will manage the Dominican Summer League Mets #2 after serving as the club’s bench coach last season.
