The Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks by a score of 4-3 this afternoon. The series is now tied, with the rubber game tomorrow afternoon.
Johan Santana went seven innings allowing three runs. Santana struggled a little with his control, but he battled and kept the Mets in the game today. Santana earned his first official win of the year.
Mike Nickeas and Andres Torres each picked up a pair of RBI’s and Daniel Murphy had a great day at the plate, going 4-4 raising his season average to .315.
Frank Francisco struck out Justin Upton to end the game, earning his 6th save of the year.
This was a very important game for the Mets to win, as they avoided going under .500 for the first time this season. Now they are in position to win the series with RA Dickey pitching tomorrow.
