Post Game: Mets 9 Padres 0

on

Santana dominated today, pitching a shutout allowing only 3 hits and he walked none.

The Mets defeated the San Diego Padres this afternoon by a score of 9-0. Johan Santana pitched spectacular today, as he went the distance and allowed no runs. His location was spot on, and not many balls were hit hard off him today. Overall it was as dominant as he has ever been since returning from shoulder surgery.

The Mets scored there runs in bunches today. Scott Hairston hit a three run blast in the first inning, and Vinny Rottino also hit his first career homer.

In the 8th, catcher Mike Nickeas hit a grand slam off Dale Thayer, allowing to Mets to take a commanding 9-0 lead.

Ike Davis also hit an RBI double in the 8th. Hopefully Ike is starting to settle in as he would help the Mets lineup tremendously

This was just a perfect game played by the Mets today. The Padres are the type of team the Mets need to be able to beat regularly and easily if they want to contend this year.

The Mets go for the series win tomorrow as RA Dickey takes on Edison Volquez at 1:10EST. The game can be seen on SNY.
