It’s back to the ATL for a few days as the Mets open up a 3-game series with a division rival they saw only a week ago. Tonight’s game at Turner Field starts at 7:10 pm and can be seen on SNY and heard on WFAN 660AM. For added fun, follow @MetsWFAN, @dailystache and @Meriwyn on Twitter.
Dillon Gee makes his second start of the season tonight, and is looking to bounce back after a dubious outing against the Nationals. Some defensive bloopers cost him his first win of the season, so hopefully he will get that tonight. The Braves will certainly be looking for a little revenge this week after being swept by the Mets when they visited CitiField for the opening series of the season. Atlanta just completed a sweep of their own, taking 3 games from the Milwaukee Brewers and winning 5 straight.
And to make matters even more fun, lookie who’s back in the lineup…everyone’s favorite nemesis, Chipper Jones. He’s already hit 2 home runs in his 3-game appearances this year.
The Mets have managed to hit a 1st inning home run over the past 3 games. David Wright, Ike Davis and Jason Bay have all come up big in that aspect. Can the Mets make it a record-breaking 4 games? I’d say Murph is about due. #insanestachepredictions

Pitching Matchup
NYM: Dillon Gee (0-1, 5.06 ERA). Some defensive mishaps gave Gee in his first loss of the season, yet he came away satisfied with his overall performance. Dillon was 1-0 in three starts at Turner Field last season.
ATL: Tommy Hanson (1-1, 2.70 ERA). The Mets will face Hanson for the second time already this season, after handing him a loss on Opening Day. However, Hanson limited the Mets to one run in five innings in that game.
Stache Keys to the Game
- I don’t want to jinx anything, but the offense needs to keep producing.
- In the continuing theme of non-jinxing, it’s nice to see Ike Davis and Jason Bay have started hitting. Hopefully they can keep it going.
- Dillon Gee gave a decent performance last time out, but the defense needs to be on their game to give him his first win.
